Economic Impact of Social Entrepreneurship

Economic Impact of Social Entrepreneurship

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia in cooperation with SeConS Development Initiative Group and non-governmental organization Group 484 conducted the project “Economic Impact of Social Enterprises” which was funded by the European Commission. The Republic of Serbia is one of the five selected countries, among 27 that competed, in which this project was implemented.

The objective of the project was to collect the data required for establishing the economic and social importance of social enterprises in the Republic of Serbia. The economic impact of social enterprises is viewed for the first time according to the national framework of national accounts as the generally accepted international standard on the evaluation of economic activities at the national level. The general methodological framework is based on the principles and definitions of the System of National Accounts 2008 – SNA2008 and the European System of Accounts 2010 – ESA2010.

The purpose of the project was to provide policy creators and relevant actors with reliable, comparable and systematic data and indicators on the economic role of social enterprises in the economy and offer usable and practical information for decision-making.

Results of the project and publication were presented at the final conference held in June 2004 in Belgrade.
